Between the West and the Setting Sun

from The Unforgotten: Rare and Un-Released by Ghoultown

/

about

“Between the West and the Setting Sun” was written for a movie soundtrack, however, the movie never ended up going to film. This is Lyle’s demo version of the song with some added guitar by Jake. A studio version was never recorded by the full band.

lyrics

between the west and the setting sun

blood is runnin' hot on the highway of life
gonna leave this whole damn world behind
follow that endless white line

restless feelin's awaken inside
whisper the names of our deepest darkest desires
like faceless guns for hire

chorus:
when the promise of freedom calls
just remember you can't have it all
if you find you're under the gun...
between the west and the setting sun

son of the devil, a curse on this earth
a child of vengeance, all the pain and hurt
things took a turn for the worst

when the darkness begins to smother light
and the shadows they open their eyes
blood runs like highways our lives intertwine
even innocence is crushed, crushed by the night

if you find yourself all alone
in raging fires and lusts of the soul
baby, just don't let go

walk the night never see the day
the only true freedom awaits in the grave
there's nothing left to save
